It is an Indiana Core 40 Scholars Initiative that seeks to better prepare students for success in higher education and the workforce through more rigorous academics in high school. For more information, contact your LAP teacher. This is an excellent way for you to get practice becoming a fluent and thoughtful reader. But your LAP teacher might have other materials she is willing to let you borrow if you promise to take good care of them. A kit typically comes in a bag and contains a book, parent activity sheet and audio cassette. We have lots of books with activities that teach ways to become a better reader.

The best part about it is that you get to pick the book! We hope you can join us at Project FLUENT this year! Each student will also receive a free book at the end of the class. The teachers in the program want to help you finish off the school year with a bang! You will get an opportunity to practice strategies that will help you understand and remember the information you read.
This program will start in the Spring and will meet in the evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. If you are interested in participating talk to your LAP teacher to get all the details. FLUENT is an acronym that means – Family Literacy: Understanding English for Newcomers Together. Project F.L.U.E.N.T – This program is for parents and students in grades K-6.
